Sometimes referred to as PS or just plain old Photoshop; this is the most widely used program among web designers, photographers, and the like. This is a program essential to many Coders and deisgners alike. I use this practically every day; in fact, I'm using it right now (although I'm usually in the "Code" tab). Dreamweaver is made by Macromedia, which is part of Adobe now. Dreamweaver 8 costs about $399. (official site) - Fireworks
This is usually the secondary choice for web designers, the first being Photoshop. Fireworks has some easy to use features, notably creating animated gifs (for me, that is). This suite costs $299. (official site)
